Springtime in the Wrangells

We recently traveled south to the Wrangells to bid farewell to our friends, Hannah and Dayton. Within one week of each other, they both defended their M.S. theses, sold their car, and moved to England . To celebrate their last weekend in town, they invited a few friends to the Viking Lodge, where there would be lots of food, drink, music, and hiking. Here they are, stopping on our Saturday afternoon day hike:

We had brought skis, hoping for a little late-season skiing, but spring had arrived early in the Wrangells. There was very little snow. We did have fun sliding around on this river, which was a clean sheet of overflow ice.
